Frequently asked questions
How is this different from the sped up and slowed tools?
The sped up and slowed + reverb tools change pitch together with speed, like a turntable. The tempo changer keeps the original pitch, so the song stays in the same key at any speed.
How do I find the new BPM?
Enter the original BPM, or press Detect to estimate it from the audio. The new BPM is the original multiplied by the speed: a 100 BPM song at 120% becomes 120 BPM.
How far can I change the tempo before it sounds bad?
Changes up to about 20% in either direction usually sound natural. Bigger changes work, but time stretching can make drums sound smeared and voices slightly metallic.
Why does the preview sound a little different from the download?
The preview uses your browser’s built-in time stretching so it can react instantly, while the download is processed with FFmpeg’s atempo filter. Both keep the pitch, but they can sound slightly different at extreme speeds.
Is this tool free?
Yes. It is completely free, with no account, no watermark, and no limit on how many files you process.
Are my files uploaded anywhere?
No. Your audio is processed entirely in your browser and never leaves your device.
Which file formats are supported?
You can open MP3, WAV, FLAC, M4A, AAC, and OGG files, and download the result as MP3 (320 kbps), WAV, or FLAC.
