Follow: www.facebook.com/groups/progressivehouseuk Here are the words of PHUK founder @djdannyjarvis to tell you more about the concept of the series: "Kicking off 2021 in style for the Guest Mix series this year is an underground titan of our scene - Shaun Strudwick. This year we've asked the guest DJ's to carry on the same format as last year which is 2 x 1-hour mixes of any style they like BUT within a theme, like a concept album. Shaun has gone for Low Tide & High Tide. Low Tide is a truly sumptuous mix starting with Marian (AR)'s gentle 'Ancient Soul' which drops perfectly into M.O.S's 'U Reki', a warm bass-laden deep house track that tees up the stunning vocal track from genius Volen Sentir courtesy of their beautiful Minestrone Mash-Up. Things progress from very good to even better as Slow Hearts deliver a wondrously reimagined remix of the Roger Sanchez classic 'Another Chance'. As Shaun nudges deeper into the groove the atmospherics swirl and Beije's beautiful medley of tracks soothe and delight in equal measure. Rhythm and percussion dance and play giving you that feeling of being transported elsewhere in the world and witnessing a huge orange Sunset across the ocean. Overall, the vocals are intelligently placed in this mix and work well in keeping the music light without losing any of the rich depth of textures Shaun has weaved together. As you get the sense the tide might be coming in Aldous Harding's 'Horizon' delivers that final breath of warm air for one last time... What works instantly here is that 'High Tide' draws the emotional energy of 'Low Tide' from the off. By the time Black 8's space-age remix of Hans Zimmer – S.T.A.Y echoes into its first break the tide is high. The next 20 mins is a deep swell of melody and atmospherics - it's pure magic. JFR & Juan Sapia's 'Wander' is one of those tracks you don't want to end but then Nopi's 'Unforgettable Dawn' continues the vibe and you are very much fully immersed into Shaun's world. Haunting violins and ethereal voices entice you deeper and deeper transitioning into Modd's superb 'Beyond' from the ever-reliable Ajunadeep stable. You couldn't be further out at sea as the stone-cold classic bedrock anthem 'Chilling Moments' rolls in with renewed vigour from GMJ & Matter on remix duties, this time, however, from the Agnosia Black label. Emotions are high in this mix and sensing the mood perfectly Shaun signals for shore and starts the journey inland for the final 15 mins. It feels as though we've been out all night at sea as Modd & Ventt's 'Space between Us' accompanies us safely back to dry land. These two mixes typify what these guest mixes are all about - the chance to explore, think differently and take us, the listener away on a unique journey over two mixes.
