The Sound (edit)
About this track
GET ‘THE SOUND RIGHT NOW 💿 https://sensosounds.lnk.to/thesound Oliver Huntemann joins forces with OZBEK & Zafer Atabey for “The Sound”, bringing together three producers whose paths have increasingly crossed around the darker edges of contemporary techno. For OZBEK & Zafer Atabey the collaboration follows a particularly active run that has taken them through Drumcode, Truesoul and Unrilis before their recent Senso Sounds debut “Midnight Shuffle”. This time they work directly with label founder Oliver Huntemann, finding common ground in a track that is lean, physical and firmly focused on the club. “The Sound” moves on a tight rolling groove with a heavy low end, clipped percussion and a recurring vocal that becomes part of the track’s rhythmic machinery. Synth details gradually shift the pressure while the arrangement leaves plenty of room for the central groove to do its work. There is a recognisable trace of Huntemann’s precise, stripped-back approach here alongside the more muscular rhythmic character OZBEK & Zafer Atabey have developed across their recent productions. The result feels like a natural meeting point between Hamburg and Istanbul and another step in a collaboration that has been taking shape around Senso Sounds.
