Rainbow Sidewalks

About this track
Rainbow Sidewalks is a song about belonging, visibility, and the people behind the colors. When rainbow sidewalks disappear, it's easy to focus on the pain. But the real story is about the people who felt welcomed by what those colors represented. Many of you know how much I love Troy and how proud I am of the person he is. You also know how happy he has been in his new role at Nexus Children’s Hospital. He has spent months creating a welcoming environment for patients, families, and employees. He decorated for Christmas, Employee Appreciation, African Heritage Month, Women’s History Month, St. Patrick’s Day, Easter, and more. This year, he did what he had done for every other celebration. On Sunday night, he put up Pride decorations—rainbows, clouds, and simple messages like “You’re Welcome Here,” “You’re Appreciated Here,” and “Be That You.” When he returned to work after his days off, the decorations were gone. Removed. No conversation. No warning. No explanation. For days, there was silence. Watching someone you love experience that kind of message—whether intended or not—changes you. It makes you step into their shoes. It makes their story become your story. That’s why I wrote and recorded “Rainbow Sidewalks.” This song isn’t about paint, paper decorations, or signs. It’s about belonging. It’s about what happens when people feel unseen. It’s about the simple idea that everyone deserves to know they are welcome. If Troy’s story moves you, I’d be honored if you’d listen, share, and help the message travel further than any decoration ever could. ❤️🏳️🌈 Rainbow Sidewalks Jefe R
