The suite uses traditional baroque instruments alongside more modern orchestral elements. This part is a darker and more brooding take on the melodies. The main melody is played by cornet, viola de gamba, bombarde, and some flutes. There is also a selection of percussion and strings playing col legno to keep some rhythm and to drive the piece.
