X & Ivy - Special Attempt

About this track
buy / stream: https://orcd.co/lad099 X & Ivy return to Life and Death with "Special Attempt," a peak-time house cut built around a piano line that felt like it came from somewhere else entirely. Fusing the euphoric pulse of early '90s Chicago house with the duo's signature groove and emotional depth, the track has been a fixture in their DJ sets since late 2024, road-tested across clubs and festivals before finding its way to record. The Australian-American duo have spent the better part of a decade refining a sound that bridges basement intimacy and festival scale. Their last Life and Death single "What Is This Sound" landed on Spotify's Tech House Operator and All New Dance, earned four BBC Radio 1 plays in a single week across Pete Tong, Danny Howard, Sarah Story and Arielle Free, and drew support from Jamie Jones, Marco Carola, Richie Hawtin, Solomun, Chloe Caillet and Busy P among others. Beatport featured it across multiple placements including a Bass House header banner. Beyond the single, the duo's collaboration with Todd Edwards — the UKG legend who co-wrote for Daft Punk — brought them wider recognition via BBC Radio 1, Capital Dance and Kiss FM, while a Book Club Radio set crossing 200K views and sets alongside Peggy Gou have cemented their reputation as selectors as much as producers.
