Drawing on his love of 60s & 70s spiritual jazz, folk and soul, South London producer and composer Scrimshire announces his new album ‘Bring Our Light To Every Corner’, a quietly expansive record assembled across five years of writing, reflection and collaboration. Awake, A Dream opens in a world of gentle guitar picking, with the distant echo of hopeful vocals emerging from the delicate soundscape. As the orchestral feel of this space subsides bass guitar leads us into a melifluous roll of beat-led folk soul. Synthesisers weave through angelic choirs and deeply emotional but calming choruses. As the second movement fades slowly into the distance we're held by soft piano and the first words "everything that we dream" by long-time collaborator and friend Faye Houston. An epic, moving yet gentle exploration that closes out his 9th album, Awake, A Dream is beautiful sonic space to spend 15 minutes.
