We’ve had to take a step back from making records & playing shows due to many factors, not least of which the cost of living crisis. However, something emerged in recent weeks from trying to process the darkness, dread and sense of doom that pervades us all at present. Given the rapid escalation of global events, we felt compelled to share it at very short notice though it is itself an ominous piece. So here is Shut Down, featuring the late Mike Ruppert—speaking back in 2009—who gave us his blessing to use his speech before he died. LYRICS I think it’s fairly certain that the mortal blow of human industrialised civilisation will happen when oil prices spike again and nobody can afford to buy that oil – and everything will just shut down. All plastic is oil; most paints; all pesticides are made from oil. Everything from toothpaste to toothbrushes is made from oil. There are 7 gallons of oil in every tire. There is nothing anywhere in any combination that will replace the edifice built by fossil fuels… Nothing. …And everything will just shut down. When the mainstream press and the government says ‘nobody could have predicted this’, they’re lying through their fucking teeth. The love of money is the route of all evil and it is the love of money which has the potential to exterminate, to render extinct, the entire human race. Shut down.
