About this track

The Sea and I They say in the port that the sea listens before anyone else. That beneath its blue skin it holds the words we drop voicelessly, like stones we don't want to acknowledge. Ainhoa knew this since she was a child. That's why she returned every afternoon to the same rock, right where the waves broke with a murmur that seemed to whisper her name without quite daring to say it. That winter afternoon, the wind carried the scent of iron and rain. For days, Ainhoa had felt a weight in her chest, a phrase she couldn't bring herself to say to anyone. It wasn't sadness, nor fear; it was something deeper, as if her life had begun to change without her permission. She sat on the rock and let the water wet her hands. The sea was restless, almost impatient. "I'm not going to say it," she whispered. "Not yet." But the sea wouldn't accept silence. The waves began to rise, one after another, as if they wanted to tear the truth from her. Ainhoa closed her eyes. And then she heard it. It wasn't an external sound. It was her own voice, echoing back from the depths of the water, uttering what she refused to admit: "I'm afraid of living a life that isn't mine." The echo pierced her like lightning. The sea, satisfied, calmed. The surface became a mirror again, but this time it reflected something different: a woman who, for the first time, saw herself without masks. Ainhoa took a deep breath. She hadn't said anything aloud, and yet, the sea already knew. And in that silent recognition, something inside her loosened, like a knot that finally finds a way to unravel. When she got up to return to the village, the wind had changed. It no longer smelled of iron, but of clean salt, of new beginnings. The sea was still there, guardian of what we don't say, but also accomplice to what we are about to dare to live.
