About this track

Look in the mirror. What do you see? A shaved ape with a god complex and a desperate need to bleed. We call it progress. I call it a suicide note written in chapters. Check the history books, man. It's just a log of disasters. Turn the pages. It started way back, a two-person population In a garden situation, facing immediate temptation. The snake hissed a dissertation, Eve took the bait—Suddenly naked and afraid, man, that's a bad lunch. Eviction notice served, kicked to the the curb. Then Cain got jealous of Abel, didn't use his freedom of speech, Just used a rock to a skull— The first murder on the docket. We went from gardening tools to putting weapons in our pocket. We figured out fire, bronze, iron, and steel. We figured out how to make other people kneel. We built Pyramids and societies on the backs of slaves, Digging early graves just so some Pharaoh can eat his grapes. From the Macedonian maniac, Alexander the Great. A nepo-baby with a sword, deciding the world's fate. Just a wild kid who didn't know when to stop. Marched his army till they dropped, from Greece to the Hindu Kush top. (Alexander the Great) "I'm a god, I will never die." He wanted it all, but died at thirty-two. Life was over, a reminder you can't take anything with you, no matter what you say. Then Rome rose up, colossal, gladiators in the fossil record. Caesars getting stabbed in the back saying "Et tu, Brute?" From the spear to the virus From the sword to the bomb We're only smart enough to know when it's all going wrong History doesn't just repeat, it rhymes with violence And then it all just ends in silence... Welcome to the Dark Ages, illiterate and contagious. The plague rats turning pages, feudal lords locking cages. We got Crusaders marching, wearing the cross on their chest, slaughtering in the name of God, putting faith to the test. Pull the sword from the stone, leave the peasantry awed. Then the Renaissance hit, "Oh look, we're painted and enlightened!" But the grip on the weaponry just continued to tighten. The Industrial Revolution, pollution filling the sky. We traded serfdom for sweatshops, just a different way to die. Steam engines huffing, mass-producing the suffering. Nations coveting other nations' land, no buffering. And out of that starvation, desperation, and inflation, A little man with a mustache manipulated a nation. World War II, the sequel, worse than the original. Holocaust, genocide, the evil was residual. We firebombed Dresden, we blitzed through the streets. But we hadn't seen nothing yet until the final feats. Nineteen-forty-five, the Manhattan Project's fruition. Oppenheimer quoting Scripture with ignition. Hiroshima, Nagasaki, the sun brought down to the earth. We split the atom and realized what our rage was worth. [Now humans are nothing more than flesh and meat] Now we're in the information age. Welcome to the net. The greatest library ever built, and what do we get? Only a couple years later from the AOL sound, you've got the tallest buildings in New York falling to the ground. Blame it on the Muslims... blame it on the Jews... but the tragedy is just an extension of the history of me and you. [I have become Death]
