Initial Code - Fracture

About this track
Conceived as a two-part body of work, InDepth Imprint's inaugural project finds its origins in a unique artistic residency at Willem Twee Studios in The Netherlands. Bringing together UFO95, Hadone, Raär, Clara D and Initial Code, the two releases form a complete artistic statement, revealing two complementary expressions of the same creative process. While the first volume distilled these sessions into five club-oriented productions, “Analog Fragments - Volume II” returns to their point of origin through a collection of experimental and ambient works, revealing the immersive environments, evolving textures and electroacoustic explorations from which those productions emerged. At the heart of the project lies Studio 1 at Willem Twee Studios, a workspace unlike any conventional recording environment. The room is built around an extraordinary collection of analogue test and measurement equipment dating from the 1950s and 1960s. Originally developed for scientific and laboratory applications, these instruments were never intended to produce music. It was pioneering composers such as Stockhausen, Varèse and Xenakis who revealed their musical potential, transforming laboratory equipment into instruments for some of the earliest works of electronic music. Alongside oscillators, sine and pulse generators, analog filters and early voltage-controlled devices, Studio 1 also houses analog computers, Nuclear Instrument Modules (NIM) and historical tape machines, preserving the working methods that defined the emergence of electronic music and musique concrète. Rather than functioning as a collection of individual machines, the studio behaves as a single instrument, inviting an intuitive approach where sound is discovered through physical interaction, experimentation and chance. Immersed in this environment, the five artists approached the residency as a collective exploration, gradually unfolding into a rich archive of recordings. Back in their own studios, each artist reworked these recordings through their own instruments, production techniques and compositional approaches. Some evolved into the dancefloor-oriented productions of Volume I, while others remained closer to their original form, embracing atmosphere and texture. Volume II reveals this more experimental side of the residency. The both releases reflect the original philosophy behind InDepth Imprint: creating dialogue between different practices. Techno and experimental music are not presented as opposing worlds, but as two expressions born from the same creative process. Volumes I and II complete one another. One translates experimentation into movement, the other allows experimentation to exist in its purest form. Together, they reflect the many creative directions that can emerge from a single moment of collective exploration. released September 16, 2026
