About this track

"Just As It Is Blues" is a warm, reflective blues about letting go of the endless search for "more" and discovering the quiet riches of gratitude, love, and everyday contentment. With gentle humour and hard-earned wisdom, it reminds us that happiness rarely arrives with a bigger house, a different job, or a fuller wallet. More often, it has been sitting across the breakfast table all along. A heartfelt song celebrating the simple truth that the richest people are often those who learn to say "thank you" more than "please." “Just As It Is Blues” © Paul Toschi 2026 I used to pack my dreams in suitcases I never owned, (suitcases with holes) Every map I kissed said, “honey, happiness is somewhere else you ain’t known.” Thought I’d shine in a different city, with a different ring on my hand, (a ring from another man) Different job, better children, but I was always building on sand. I was rich in wanting, poor in seeing what was true, (poor without you) Then you smiled real quiet and let the truth come through. I blamed my mirror for the way my mornings felt, (it wasn’t the mirror’s fault) If I would get better cards, if only someone else dealt. If I had more money, I’d finally sleep at night, (I’d finally get some rest) Didn’t notice how I rested when your hand held mine just right. You never preached, you never told me what to do, (you just showed me what was true,) You said, “Look around, baby—life’s already loving you.” You taught me joy ain’t something that you can chase, (running from place to place,) It’s the way you pour the coffee, it’s the lines around your face. You said, “Try loving what you’ve already been given,” (Loving what I got) Turns out gratitude feels, a whole lot like being content. So I stopped counting wishes, started counting names, (stopped playing silly games) Found my heart feels fuller when somebody else’s joy calls my name. Now the house ain’t bigger, and the sky’s the same old blue, (I’m still me and you’re still you) But I walk softer knowing how much I already grew into. I was standing on a fortune, calling it the ground, (calling money my solid ground,) Funny how blessings whisper while complaints are so loud. So here I am, baby, humbled and down on my knees, (right down on my knees,) Turns out I had more than enough— I just say Thanks ... a whole lot more, than I say Please. Translate this for me
