I wrote this song after returning from a road trip that included over a dozen states, counting a state of confusion. Coming home after weeks on the road always feels good. I drove around the country On highways that bore me through too many states But what I found and what I remembered On my way, on my way home to you I’ve flown around the world I’ve reached around the silver moon I longed for the sun on a stormy day On my way, on my way home to you I’ve sailed across the seas And saw too many people cry I heard of bombs falling from the sky Without warning On my way home to you I drove down flat roads in Indiana From northern shores To the river below Through bourbon and blue grass And Rocky Top mountains On my way, on my way home to you I sat in my car behind an accident Waited hours for traffic to move There was no detour ahead of me On my way, on my way home to you I traveled long In a state of confusion Facing old memories in sepia tone Details obscured and facts long forgotten On my way, on my way home to you La lalalala la la la… On my way, On my way home to you….
