Spring Street Improvisation 2
by Jai Djwa
About this track
IMPROVISED GEOGRAPHY is a series of live piano and keyboard improvisations recorded in different locations in British Columbia, including Hooson Road, Harwood Street, and Spring Street. Each piece was recorded in a single take with no edits, no overdubs, and no retakes. What you hear is exactly what happened in the room at that moment. Spring Street features the beautiful voice of Cori Caulfield. These recordings explore the relationship between place, memory, repetition, and instinct. I was interested in how familiar sounds and familiar gestures can shift depending on geography, mood, light, and attention. The piano is my instrument, but also a kind of map: a surface I know deeply enough to get lost inside. Rather than composing fixed works, I approached these recordings as acts of listening and response. The streets became prompts. The improvisations became traces of being there. #ReleaseDay2026
