Anecho, a love, a dream, aloud - no wait, that's the Temper Trap, an Australian indie rock band formed in 2005... This EP is by a Dutchman, and as a people, the Lowlanders are historically good at this whole 'dance music' thing, a trend continued here across three pancake-and-clog flavoured tracks. 'Imma Get You' is the most banging of the bunch, as a sample from a mysterious (yet possibly 'black-eyed' and 'pea' tasting) vocalist lurks over tuff electro drums and squelchy bass, a combination perfectly designed to make us move our 'lovely lumps' - no matter our gender identification. We may occasionally wonder 'where is the love?', but we will NEVER question how to 'get this party started'. 'Tunnel Vision' features precisely ZERO Wiley mixtape samples. Just a heads up. If that's not a concern, there's hints of Dave Angel in the combination of Detroit chords, techno drums and emotive Marimba melodies, while the half time step in the clap means it's also DUBSTEP. Support from Excision & SVDDEN DEATH. Be like those guys, and 'pump it' why not. Finally, the third - and writer's favourite - track, brings in cheeky scallywag Toura for 'Chocola', again indulging those classic Detroit vibes in a way that feels both uplifting and driving. If you'd told me this was a lost dub by Jel Ford or an unreleased Jericho 12", I would have absolutely believed you, and round these parts, lad, that's high praise indeed. 'I Got A Feeling' this will go 'Boom Boom Pow' on a big system.
