About this track

Love Blaze, wanted to make something similar. Woke up pissed at the city again, Same damn sirens kickin’ at 5 a.m. Window view was a concrete wall, Neighbors screamin’ through the hall. Town felt tired and so did I, Been drinkin’ too hard just to get by. Found a half-smoked joint on the windowsill — Took one drag, I’ve had my fill. I’m just lookin’ for somewhere new, A place where a lost man can make do. World keeps turnin’, hurt keeps burnin’ — But I’m tryin’ to turn me too. I’m just lookin’ for somewhere new, Met an older lady by the station door....... Silver hair tied back, maybe late fifty-four... She said, “Son, you look like hell warmed twice,” I laughed, said, “Ma’am, that’s oddly nice.” We shared a smoke and a cheap beer can, Talked about life, how it ruins your plans. She said, “This city took years I can’t get back — And stayin’ put just keeps you stuck in the past.” Then the bus rolled in with a rusty sigh — She squeezed my hand, said, “Give wandering a try.” I’m just lookin’ for somewhere new, A place where the hard days don’t come due. Hope’s still open, faith gets broken — But I keep walkin’, it’s what I do. I’m just lookin’ for somewhere new, Every barstool preacher’s got his version of truth, Every addict’s carryin’ somethin’ from youth. Some folks sober, some folks drown — We’re all just tryin’ to turn life around. Rolled through fields where the wheat stood still, Found a bar tucked under a low brown hill. Ordered whiskey ’cause the cold bit hard, Said, “Figure I’ll thaw before I fall apart.” Bartender snorted, “Son, you’re half bad luck.” I said, “Yeah… bein’ me ain’t no skill I picked up.” He slid the glass — I took a burning sip, Said, “Next year I’ll quit… once I get a grip.” He laughed, “Nobody’s perfect — keeps my doors open’ wide.” Then pointed west, “Go chase a warmer sky I’m just lookin’ for somewhere new, A place where a man ain’t trapped in his blues. Road keeps callin’, fears keep fallin’ — But I’m still movin’ through. Maybe someday I’ll settle down, Find a porch, claim a little ground with you. But not today — I’m jus passin’ through, Tryin’ to learn how to be brand new.
