About this track

Hey everyone, I'm happy to finally be able to release this, it took about 6 or 7 months of work so obviously I'm really happy because it wasn't easy to work on and I got into walls a lot when it came to working on it. This initially started off as a sketch I made during one of my classes, I did post this sketch on social media at some point, and the whole song ended up being built around it (in a way). In a way I ended up writing a lot surrounding this said sketch, but the times between the part writing was sometimes so long because during my music writing process I'll often stop myself completely to look for inspiration. It's one of those cases where I know what I want at a certain point vaguely but I have to come up with an idea that fits it, which kind of ended up with me having very unmatched parts at a certain point when my sketch was still around 4 minutes long (and I think you can still hear some parts are quite different sounding..) And so when I realized I had to rewrite a lot of specific parts, which ironically enough did include the part at the beginning, the one that started the entire track basically, along with a few parts I wrote way earlier into this.. However this was more so about the specifics of what said notes would ultimately end up on the final song but in terms of ideas or what I wanted globally I think it slotted into place fairly easily.. Whether from a story telling perspective or from an arrangement perspective I feel I had heard enough things that inspired me to know what I'd do for an orchestral song in 3/4, mainly from street and feryquitious, and I added my own touch everywhere I could, mostly through the triplet section and some of the vocal work at the end, and just overall trying to do the story telling I aim to achieve in these longer duration tracks (especially given this is my longest track to date) I had a lot of fun writing the final chorus particularly because I had always gone into this thinking that I want one big part that really catches the listener and ends up being a lot more memorable and emotional, and so I had thought that one through a bit more carefully, even thinking about changing the chord progression I've been using up to that point to really give it a sense of finality all throughout and just make something that'd heavily contrast the outro. I ended up going with the title of spell of remembrance just because I think the idea of a witch (surprise surprise) casting a giant spell to remember all her past and reflect on what had happened, perhaps no matter how grim it might be, is a beautiful idea to me, and so I tried my best to reflect that idea as best as I could in the form of a song. And this idea also translates to, in less fantasy focused ways, the slow reflection that we have over some of our past actions and how we face that going forward, and most importantly how some of our past pains can lead to growth. Of course this isn't the only and final interpretation! I definitely like hearing and seeing people interpret what I make in any way they wish and for the most part I think the music will do most of the speaking for itself. The vocals were also entirely done with synthv, and I was really happy with how they turned out all things considered, I had a little bit of hardware limitations working with synthv which sometimes made it less smooth to work with or a bit choppy but, I would say for the most part I'm really happy with it and looking forward to make more with it! I'm pretty satisfied with the feeling that every single track I make seems to push me out of my comfort zone a lot. As opposed to fiddling around most of the time it feels like everything I do is very purposeful, and I enjoyed working that way a lot, even though I sometimes wish I could just write, it comes with upsides and downsides. I hope you all enjoy the track!! I can't wait to work on even more like this and push myself even more!
